Does your home institution, firm, or organization offer funding for the pursuit of continuing education?
FRIENDS + FAMILY SUPPORT
You could consider a small-scale crowd-sourcing effort, wherein you invite your professional and / or personal communities to support you with a $50 or $100 gift. Those small contributions add up!

Arizona Commission of the Arts | Creative capacity grants
KOA Get Out There grants | $1000 – $5000 awards; application deadline March 23
WomenArts | Grants for female artists and female-led projects
University of Montana Matthew Hansen Endowment for Wilderness Studies grant | up to $3000; application deadline April 19
Outdoor Writers Association of America Bodie McDowell Scholarship | $1000 – $5000 for junior or senior-level undergrad and graduate students who are pursuing degrees in outdoor communication fields of print, photography, film, art, or broadcasting
Wilderness Education Association awards | various scholarships + funding sources
Every Drop Counts Earth Science Scholarship Fund | $10,000 scholarships for Texan outdoor enthusiasts pursuing a major in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental law, environmental education, forestry, oceanography, or ecology; application deadline April 3; [email protected]
Backcountry Squatters | Up to $600
- National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) | Project-based grants encouraging partnership between artists and non-profit organizations. Individual artist grants are available to Creative Writers and Translators. You can request to see the applications of any successful past grant.
