This award is eligible for use on our 2023 GOOD ANCESTORS course with Chris La Tray. Applications are due JUNE 10.

In 2023, American Rivers Northern Rockies offers one full-tuition scholarship to one Indigenous creative, leader, storyteller, or educator to put toward a Freeflow course in the Northern Rockies region (Montana or Idaho).

Indigenous writers, leaders, students, educators, and artists of all backgrounds and all skill levels are invited to apply.

If you need additional funding in order to attend the Freeflow course, please email Kami Bakken at The Freeflow Foundation at [email protected].

We can accept applications in written, audio, or video formats. If you have trouble understanding or accessing the application, please contact us and we will help you.

Before you apply, please familiarize yourself with the visions of Freeflow Institute and American Rivers. Then craft a compelling pitch for an original creative project or story. Your project should focus on the following goals, through whatever creative medium you choose:

  • Enhance and expand public awareness of American Rivers’ mission
  • Ignite dialogue around issues related to rivers
  • Encourage citizens to experience, celebrate, and protect rivers

Please apply on a timeline consistent with the course you’re applying to. The hard deadline for ALL applications is June 10.

We can’t wait to read about your ideas! Please get in touch with Scott at American Rivers at [email protected] or Chandra at Freeflow at [email protected] with any questions.
